The Music of the Americas creates a patchwork quilt of influences and cross-references, heading north and south along the two continents. Created by an unholy marriage of European, Native and African music traditions, both halves together form an ever changing kaleidoscope of rhythms, harmonies, and textures.
Through the medium of the guitar, these disparate threads coalesce into a portrait of cultures defined as much by their intersection as by their divergence. That most of the composers and all of the arrangers featured on this disc are still alive and creating gives testament to the ever evolving journey before us.
It is our Pan American Odyssey.
